The Secretary, Henry Szkuta, welcomed special guests, Luisa La Formara and Cathy Harper, representing Diversitat, as well as representatives from the Filipino Social Club, the JukeBox Rockers, the 150 other guests in attendance and naturally our Debutantes and their partners to the Polish Community Association’s inaugural “Forever Young Debutante Ball with a difference".

The ladies, whose ages ranged from 45 to 65, were complimented on how beautiful they all looked.  The theme for the Debutante Ball was in fact “Forever Young” - young in spirit, no matter what your age may be!

Henry thanked the ladies and their partners for being so willing to re-live their youth on that evening and sharing their emotions with all who were present. Not only did the eight couples have a wonderful and memorable evening but those who attended did likewise.

Henry thanked the President of the PCA, Grazyna Brzostowski, for her tireless efforts in organising the function and for bringing back a little bit of culture to the White Eagle House. He also extend a very big thank you to Zaza Bozanic for teaching the "forever young" debutantes and their partners the Tango, the Evening Three Step, the Salsa other dances they performed on that evening.

The Polish Community Association in Geelong organised this Debutante Ball as part of its contribution to the year-long celebrations of the 40th Anniversary of Diversitat in Geelong.

When the Polish Community Association in Geelong became a member of Diversitat four years after it was established in 1976, it was known as Geelong Ethnic Communities Council.  It was run from a single office with a team of only five staff. Today, Diversitat represents over 80,000 people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds throughout the Geelong region; it has 38 affiliated communities; and operates from 11 different sites in the Geelong and Colac areas. In recent years, Diversitat has also expanded its operations as a registered charity and now successfully delivers a wide range of programs and services throughout the Barwon Region and beyond.

Our Polish community all wish Diversitat and all who work within the organisation a very Happy 40th Birthday. We all hope that there will be many more successful years ahead.
