Breakwater Eagles Soccer Club
A Brief History of the Breakwater Soccer Club and its association with the White Eagle House
Before the Polish Community Association in Geelong (PCA) purchased the Breakwater property, which is now known as the White Eagle House, in 1981, the Association was very involved and financially sponsored the Polonia Soccer Club. At that time, the PCA headquarters were located on a much smaller property in Malop St Geelong and the Polonia SC soccer ground was located in the industrial area of Corio. Later, when the White Eagle House was established, the Soccer Club changed its name to the Breakwater Eagles Soccer Club. This was done to attract players from the broader community, not just players from the Geelong Polish community. This was a wise decision. Over the next few years, we saw a dramatic increase in the membership of the soccer Club.
In 2017, Breakwater Eagles SC has 118 registered players and fields team in the Under 7, Under 9 Under 11 Under 13, Under 15 Under 17 and two Senior Men’s Teams.
The Club is proudly sponsored by the Polish Community Association in Geelong. The sponsorship include the use of our three soccer fields at the White Eagle House venue, use of change rooms, all the function facilities for their social events and, naturally, our Bar facilities. The maintenance of the soccer field, cleaning of the change room facilities and utility costs are all covered as part of an informal sponsorship agreement between the PCA and the Breakwater Eagles SC.
