AMCS Senior Group News Items
News Item from the Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS)
This year, 2018, we are celebrating our 35 years of service to our multicultural community. AMSC was originally found by members of the Eastern European community members. Today AMSC now services a broad section of the wider ethnic community in Victoria.
A snapshot of the programs we provide to the wide range of groups include:
- Culturally appropriate Home Care
- Social Support Groups
- Respite time for our full-time carers
- Volunteer Visitations
- Emergency Relief Services
Eighteen years ago, AMCS started its services in the Geelong area. Its Planned Activity Group (PAG) program proved to be very popular with around 34 clients attend this program every Friday.
We changed the name from PAG to Social Support Groups (SSG) and have extended it to other multicultural groups, including the Filipino Seniors group and the Italian Seniors Club.
Our SSG meets every Friday at the White Eagle House in Breakwater and participate in various activities, including:
- Art and Craft
- Listening to speaker on a wide, interesting variety of topics
- Regular excursions to various interesting place
We are very privileged that we have access to two buses, funded by the AMCS, available for our use for these outings.
